Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate -- ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?
Nope. At least not any that I can remember...I'm usually pretty good at picking books that I know I'll like. I don't read much contemporary, I think of it as fluff cause it's out of the norm for me. A lot of my friends love this genre and have tried to get me to read more, but it's just not my thing and I refuse to read something I'm not going to enjoy.

I'm happy you stand your ground. If you don't enjoy that genre why read it.

Same here. I usually know what to look for and what I like in books, though I often intentionally read books I'm sure I'll dislike, because they contain, like, tropes or plot-elements I am really interested in. :)

I also don't like contemporary all that much, its not what I like. And most of the contemporary books I did read didn't get a high rating.

Hi! This is the 2nd time Silk Screen Views is joining the blog hop. Following you by Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not a huge fan of a lot of books people love. One of them is the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's just not my thing. The writing... ugh. Don't get me started! Ha!

Oh okay I understand. I shied away from contemporary for a while cause of the same feeling towards it but once I started getting into some contemporary new age books I ended up liking the genre so you never know.

I don't hate the genre completely, but I have to be in a certain mood to read it. So I end up reading very few of them.
DeleteWhat about the books you can't pick? The ones you had to read in High School? Were there any then that you thought you'd hate, but ended up totally loving?

Actually no. I knew the ones that I was going to dislike no matter what, and others that I knew I might just actually like.
