Storm Front is Jim Butcher's first novel and introduces his most famous and popular character-Harry Dresden, wizard for hire.

For his first case, Harry is called in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with the blackest of magic. At first, the less-than-solvent Harry's eyes light up with dollar signs. But where there's black magic, there's a black mage. Now, that black mage knows Harry's name. And things are about to get very...interesting.

My Thoughts

Have heard so many great things about this series. It didn't quite live up to my expectations, but it was still a good start to the series.

I loved Harry though, his a bit shy, caring, a gentleman and funny. He is a great narrator. Notice how I didn't say smart? That was my problem. Even though he can think fast on his feet, when it came to putting the plot together he fell short, by quite a bit.

It was pretty obvious that all his cases were related, yet he didn't put it together till like 3/4th of the way through, and that was more cause he pretty much stumbled into it and the light bulb finally turned on.

My other problem was Murphy. She started out as a nice enough character with her tough cop routine, but my god it got really annoying when he started getting in Harry's way. Then she gets all offended cause he had to keep her out of it...Trust is a two way trust, she should have trusted him in the first place before she got all b**chy about it.

All in all it's a good start to the series and a great set up for this new magical word that Butcher has built, I just hope Harry get smarter.

First book in the TBR Pile Challenge! Yay!
