Unraveling: Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi

Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi
Title: Fracture Me
Series: Shatter Me #2.5
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Publication Date: December 17, 2013

In this electrifying sixty-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, discover the fate of the Omega Point rebels as they go up against The Reestablishment. Set during and soon after the final moments of Unravel Me, Fracture Me is told from Adam's perspective.

As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam's focus couldn't be further from the upcoming battle. He's reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend's life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James's safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It's time for war.

On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor—but taking down Warner, Adam's newly discovered half brother, won't be that easy. The Reestablishment can't tolerate a rebellion, and they'll do anything to crush the resistance . . . including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about.

My Thoughts

I think the only thing that saved this from being a 2 stars was Kenji and James. Honestly, I just can't stand Adam, even less now. Yes, admire him for being so devoted to James, but that's about it. The guy is beyond irritating. He is just too...idk, melodramatic and condescending? Always worrying about 10 different things like no one can do their jobs and he is the only smart one. Yes, I don't agree with Castle's decisions, but that doesn't make Adam a know-it-all either.

I loved James and Kenji here. James was just so cute and brave! And Kenji was just Kenji. He may be 'soft' as Adam says, but he is a leader and can keep his head straight under pressure unlike Adam and he really showed that here. He can be your best friend and joke around one moment and he can be the guy barking orders at you and saving your butt the next. Love him! I want him to have his own book xD

My last problem is the way things seem to be shaping up now. The novella took place in the last few chapters of Unravel Me, so we get to know what exactly happened to everyone else while Juliette was with Anderson. (view spoiler)

All I'm saying is Juliette HAS to end up with Warner xD

If you are a fan of the series already, then this is a must read, and if you haven't even picked this series up already, what are you still doing here? Go read it already!

So...

Would I Recommend it?

  1. I felt pretty much the same way about this one. Adam was just so condescending in this that it did him no favors. At least Warner looks at Juliette as a sort of equal or someone with potential...adam just seemed to see her as a possible disaster.

  2. Yes! He keeps treating her like she is an idiot, useless, and made of glass. It's so annoying. Sure she doesn't always make the best decisions but she is allowed to make mistakes. Plus this is her first time out and about with people wince her incarceration. She can't be expected to know who she is and what she wants all of a sudden. He just never really gives her a chance to grow.
